Oakmont Regatta and Dollar Bank Jamboree Photos From This Past Weekend
Wednesday, July 30, 2008

Great weather, almost 100 boats, and lots of fun were on tap for the 2008 Oakmont Regatta.
Just under 100 boats crowded the Oakmont Yacht Club docks for their annual Regatta. Those that made the trip to the Allegheny River destination were not disappointed. Saturday afternoon many events were on tap for everyone to enjoy. Volleyball games, horeshoes, children’s events, live music, and great food were just some of the items enjoyed by all of the attendees.
Saturday evening the lighted boat parade that was followed by a lengthy fireworks display pleased the crowd watching on.
Sunday had even more in store for the boaters and their families. The Anything That Floats Race was a highlight along with the Duck Race and the Tug of War Championships.
If you are a boater and have never enjoyed the Regatta that truly is for boaters, then make plans to join the Oakmont Regatta in 2009!
The Dollar Bank Jamboree was also a good time for boaters as they moored to the wharf along the Mon side of point state park. Although the concert was a fair walk up around the construction and through the tunnel, music, food, fireworks, and of course, beautiful weather were more than enough to enjoy a Saturday on the water. With the fireworks barge being launched from the Allegheny side of the point, the fireworks were right overhead. While it turned out to be a great view from our location, any boater will tell you that a better spot for the fireworks barge is right in the middle of the three rivers.
Check out a few
photos from these two events and hope to see you on the water soon at another
upcoming event.
