Ordinance Update: Still Time to Act!

It is not too late to voice your concern to the City of Pittsburgh council members.

Officials from the City of Pittsburgh are still accepting input from boaters on the pending ordinance concerning the North Shore wharf. Drafters of the ordinance have been working on revisions over the last few weeks, but at this time there is no timetable for when it will go to council. According to Sean Capperis, Constituent Services Manager for Councilman Patrick Dowd, even when it reaches that point there will still be time for input.

Whether or not you are a City resident, you can still send in your thoughts on the ordinance. If you have not yet voiced you concern on this matter, please do so soon. Go to BoatPittsburgh.com for instructions on how to contact Councilman Dowd and for other useful links related to the ordinance.

If you are unsure of what comments to send, Mr. Capperis suggested answering several questions:

What do people generally value about the opportunity to boat in the Pittsburgh pool?
What makes people feel safe?
How can we make boating and docking here easier?
What prevents people from docking now?
How can we protect the privilege of docking here for those who do it respecting their fellow boaters?
