Plenty of Summer Left for Boaters!
Tuesday, July 15, 2008

For as long as I can remember, the 4th of July seemed to mark the beginning of the end of boating season. However, this is no longer the case. A quick glance at the BoatPittsburgh.com Calendar, shows that there is still a ton of boating left to do and a large variety of boating events to take part in. Here are some highlights of what is to come:

  • July 18-20 - Annual BoatPittsburgh.com River Trip – Try going someplace different! All the organizing is done for you.
  • July 26 – Dollar Bank Jamboree – This free concert is back at Point State Park. The park is still being worked on but everything should still be accessible to boaters.
  • July 25-27 - Oakmont Yacht Club Regatta– This is truly a regatta by boaters for boaters.
  • August 2 - Rockin’ the River Charity Boaters’ Bash – Sign up soon because tickets are limited and the deadline is approaching fast.
  • August 8 - BoatPittsburgh.com Steelers Kickoff Party – Come down to the North Shore and kick-of the season with us. Party starts at 4:30.
  • August 14-16 – Pittsburgh Pirates Skyblast - Check out some of the best fireworks of the summer and music by national acts.
  • August 15-17 – Beaver Valley Yacht Club Regatta – A great time is had by all at this annual event.
  • August 23 – Greater Pittsburgh Aquatic Club Poker Run and Corn Roast – E-mail Norman Arbes at shrinemariner@msn.com for pre-registration form and questions.
  • Labor Day Weekend – Annual Football, Ribs, and Rock n’ Roll Festival – Stop by the North Shore and all 5 senses will be glad you did.
  • September 20 – Beaver Valley Yacht Club Fall Lobster Dinner – A great time is always had by everybody that goes!

In addition to these events listed here there a many more listed on our Calendar of Events. Everything from Corn Roasts to Poker Runs are still available to join in on. Don’t forget that Steeler season is around the corner too. There is always a party on the North Shore prior to the games at Heinz Field.

With all of these events going on and the usual fun of boating (water sports, fishing, swimming, etc), keep in mind that some of the best boating days of 2008 are still ahead of us.
