First Ever Rockin’ the River Boaters’ Bash for Charity a Huge Success!
Tuesday, August 05, 2008

It costs approximately $5,000 to tutor one child for one year at the 32° Learning Center for Children. Typically, children require an average of two years of tutoring.
When the organizers of the first ever Rockin’ the River Boaters’ Bash for Charity got together we hoped we could raise enough money to at least pay for one child to receive the help they need to overcome the effects of dyslexia.
We are happy to announce that thanks to the generosity of all the people involved in the event, we raised over $9,000 for this great cause. Over 50 boats and roughly 275 people gathered at the Lock Wall One Marina for this memorable event.
The weather could not have been any better as boaters and friends of boaters gathered on the docks and on the landing for a great time. DJ Bill Bara got things started spinning a great mix of music that everyone enjoyed. After dinner, The Vagrants took the stage and performed a collection of hits that left everyone in attendance wanting more.

In addition to the entertainment, several brand new boats were on display from Fox Chapel Marine, P & L Boat Sales, and Miller’s Marine. Many attendees also took part in some light hearted games of Ladder Golf and Cornhole.

At 8:00 in the evening the winners of the Chinese Auction were announced. Chad Kusenko was the most excited winner as he picked up the brand new wakeboard donated by Skip’s Extreme Marine. The auction alone raised an estimated $2,000 for the charity.
The organizers would like to thank everyone that took part in this event. Boaters, non-boaters, volunteers, donors, and sponsors all had an important role in making this event a huge success.
For those that were in attendance, please let the organizers know what you liked about the event and what we could have done better. We hope to make this a yearly event and want to make it as boater friendly as possible. Also, please take a moment to thank the
sponsors and donors that helped make the Boaters’ Bash possible.
